Questions people ask before pressing pay
The mechanic is deliberately simple. The money, ownership transfer, click count, and legal limits are not hidden behind an account.
- 01What is The Internet's Most Expensive Button?
- It is one public button with one owner. The current owner controls where the button sends visitors. A new verified buyer can take ownership only by paying the server-calculated live price.
- 02How is the next price calculated?
- The server doubles the current verified value, then adds 5% of that doubled amount. The result is rounded up to the next whole cent. A configured absolute increase, one US dollar by default, remains a low-value safety floor. For example, a $2 owner requires at least $4.20; a $4.20 owner requires at least $8.82.
- 03Can I pay more than the minimum?
- Yes. Raise the Floor lets you choose an exact takeover price at or above your selected option's server-calculated minimum. If the payment is still valid when verified, that full amount becomes the new public value, so the following buyer must pay at least 2× that value plus 5%. Extra payment raises value but does not add time beyond a selected Time Shield or guarantee clicks or results.
- 04What is a Time Shield?
- Every takeover can stay open Until outbid or add takeover protection for 24 hours, 3 days, or 7 days. The shield adds the greater of a published minimum premium or percentage premium to the open takeover price: 24 hours adds at least $10 or 50%, 3 days adds at least $25 or 100%, and 7 days adds at least $75 or 200%. The full verified total becomes the new Button value. The protection clock starts only after the signed Stripe event activates ownership.
- 05What does Back the Owner do?
- A verified Defense Boost keeps the same owner in control and adds the boost amount to the public button value. That makes the next takeover more expensive. The backer can appear by name with a short message, but receives no ownership, link, clicks, guaranteed duration, or financial interest.
- 06What if the owner loses control while I am paying for a boost?
- The signed payment event locks and rechecks the live owner. If the intended owner is still active, the boost is added atomically. If a takeover won first, the boost is not applied and the paid order is marked for refund review.
- 07What does an owner receive?
- The owner's name, category, logo, message, call-to-action copy, and destination appear publicly; legitimate clicks are counted; and the takeover receives a permanent public receipt page and archive entry.
- 08Do I have to enter every listing detail manually?
- No. Paste your public website first and the listing form attempts to detect its public brand name, meta title, meta description, logo or favicon, and a suggested button label. A visual preview appears before checkout, every detected value remains editable, and manual entry stays available when a website blocks automated reading or publishes incomplete metadata.
- 09What are Category Champions?
- Every verified takeover chooses one of eight public competition lanes. Each lane ranks its owners by final verified button value, with exact ties favoring the earlier reign. A category is not a separate button or separate purchase: entering or retaking a category requires winning the single global button at its live price. Category titles are public recognition, not prizes, endorsements, or guarantees of results.
- 10What is the Founding 100?
- The first 100 verified takeover records receive a numbered Founding 100 mark based strictly on atomic takeover sequence. Opening checkout does not reserve a number, one buyer can hold more than one takeover record, and the mark is recognition inside this experiment—not equity, a prize, or a guarantee that the Service exists forever.
- 11What is the Daily Crown?
- Every UTC day is a separate public battle. The owner with the most verified control time between midnight and midnight UTC takes that day's crown; exact ties favor the earlier overlapping reign. When the day closes, its winner, control time, end-of-reign value, verified spend, takeovers, boosts, and tracked clicks freeze into a shareable scorecard. A day with no owner has no invented winner.
- 12What is the 24H Arena?
- The 24H Arena is a live rolling money board, not a fixed daily archive. A verified takeover price and every applied Defense Boost count toward that ownership receipt for exactly 24 hours from the moment each payment qualifies. Owners rank by rolling verified spend; exact ties favor the earlier qualifying payment. The board changes as payments arrive and expire, and its rolling clicks are context rather than a ranking factor. It is public recognition, not a prize or promise of results.
- 13How do the Hall of Fame record books work?
- The Hall of Fame has four permanent leaderboards: highest final button value, longest uninterrupted reign, most deduplicated tracked clicks during one reign, and most applied Defense Boosts. Value and reign rank after the first verified owner; click and defense records remain explicitly open until their first real event. Exact ties favor the earlier verified reign, and each ownership receipt shows its current ranks.
- 14What is Most Wanted?
- Most Wanted ranks public-facing brands, creators, and projects that visitors explicitly challenge to take the button. Opening, viewing, or sharing a challenge page does not increase its count. Obvious repeats for the same target are deduplicated within a UTC day. Counts are invitations, not votes, accusations, endorsements, or evidence of affiliation, and targets can be hidden through moderation.
- 15Can owners recognize the traffic in their analytics?
- Yes. For ordinary destination URLs, missing UTM source, medium, campaign, and content fields are added to the tracked outbound redirect. Existing buyer-supplied UTM values remain unchanged, and signed or tokenized URLs are not modified. Analytics platforms can still count traffic differently.
- 16What is the live Button embed?
- It is one official copy-and-paste iframe that any lawful publisher can install without an account. The iframe always reads the same current verified owner, value, call to action, destination, and click ledger as the main Button, so future takeovers update automatically. Legitimate owner clicks use the same deduplicated redirect. Installs are voluntary and removable, so ownership never guarantees embedded distribution, impressions, clicks, or results.
- 17Is the live audience number real?
- Yes. It counts salted, deduplicated human browser heartbeats seen in the last 75 seconds. Known crawlers, preview bots, cross-site requests, and stale visitors are excluded. It is an operational estimate, not an inflated marketing claim.
- 18What does Recorded Reach count?
- Recorded Reach counts a visible human-browser heartbeat on the main Button page or official live Button widget after known-bot filtering. The same salted visitor fingerprint counts at most once per surface in each 30-minute window. It is first-party evidence of promotional-surface delivery, not raw page views, a lifetime unique-person count, or an audited advertising impression standard.
- 19How is the public click-to-reach rate calculated?
- The displayed rate divides first-party tracked button clicks by Recorded Reach impressions for the same public ledger. Privacy tools, blocked JavaScript, fast clicks, different duplicate windows, embeds, and bots can make it differ from another analytics platform, and it can occasionally exceed ordinary advertising expectations. It is an operational ratio, not an audited CTR or guarantee of results.
- 20How long does ownership last?
- With Until outbid, there is no minimum and another valid buyer can take over immediately. A 24-hour, 3-day, or 7-day Time Shield blocks competing takeovers for that exact period after verified activation. After it expires, ownership continues until a valid higher takeover wins. Every placement remains subject to legal, safety, payment, rules, and service-availability limits.
- 21What if two people try to buy at the same time?
- The first verified payment that still satisfies the locked live minimum transfers ownership. A later paid checkout that became stale—or arrives after another buyer's Time Shield begins—is marked for review and refund and cannot overwrite the newer or protected owner.
- 22What does the live checkout-pressure message mean?
- It counts recent server-created takeover and Defense Boost checkout sessions from the last 15 minutes. It is a signal of purchase intent, not proof of payment, and it never reserves the button, owner, or price. Only a still-valid verified payment changes the public record.
- 23How are button clicks counted?
- A click is counted when a visitor uses the tracked button redirect. A salted pseudonymous fingerprint and ten-minute bucket suppress obvious duplicates. Counts are operational estimates and not audited advertising reports.
- 24Does buying guarantee traffic, customers, or revenue?
- No. A Time Shield can block competing takeovers for its exact purchased period, but no takeover guarantees site uptime, embedded distribution, number of clicks, search ranking, customers, sales, revenue, or another commercial result.
- 25Are payments refundable?
- Payments are generally final once immediate public placement or a Defense Boost begins, except for stale-checkout conflicts, an owner-change conflict before a boost applies, a refund approved by the operator or required through Stripe or a payment network, or a mandatory legal right. A later outbid, short visibility, or fewer clicks than hoped does not by itself create a refund right.
- 26Who processes payment?
- Stripe provides hosted checkout and payment processing. Touristas Technologies remains the seller of the advertising service and is responsible for applicable tax, invoicing, refund, and consumer obligations. The site does not store complete card numbers.
- 27Can any website own the button?
- No. The buyer must own or be authorized to promote the destination. Malware, phishing, fraud, impersonation, illegal or explicit content, hidden redirects, shorteners, and rights-infringing destinations are prohibited.
- 28What happens to a receipt after an owner is outbid?
- The receipt changes from current owner to archived owner and records the initial takeover price, final button value, verified boosts, takeover sequence, dates, tenure, and tracked clicks. It can remain public and indexable, subject to legal, safety, moderation, or technical removal.
- 29What is the Takeover Tape?
- The Takeover Tape is the permanent receipt-level rivalry ledger. When a verified takeover atomically transfers the Button, the new receipt records the exact active receipt it displaced. The public matchup names both submitted owners and the verified takeover price. It proves payment-backed receipt succession—not anyone's legal identity, brand affiliation, endorsement, or wrongdoing.
- 30What is a Comeback Chain?
- An archived receipt has a prefilled reclaim action. If that checkout produces a still-valid verified takeover, the new receipt permanently links back to the selected archived receipt. The latest receipt shows that exact lineage plus cumulative final values, tracked clicks, control time, defenses, and reign count. The link proves a receipt-to-receipt paid path; it does not verify the buyer's legal identity, prove that repeated names are the same person, or imply an affiliation between different submitted names.
- 31Can an owner show the win on another website?
- Yes. Every receipt includes an embeddable verified owner badge. One copy-and-paste snippet links back to the permanent receipt and automatically updates its price, tracked clicks, and current or archived status.
- 32Who operates the experiment?
- The Service is operated by Touristas Technologies in Sifnos, Greece. The Legal Notice publishes the currently configured operator and contact information and identifies any remaining pre-launch trader-information gates.
